OUR APPROACH

Climate Action Pathways for Schools (CAPS) partners with under-resourced schools to lower operating costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and advance climate literacy. We provide a project-based learning program to prepare students for green jobs and high-skill career pathways by helping them develop and execute projects that mitigate climate change, resulting in more equitable, sustainable, and resilient schools and communities.

OUR MISSION

CAPS partners with schools to provide inspiring climate education programs and implement projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while saving money for the school district.

OUR VISION

CAPS envisions a world in which every student has a pathway to pursue a fulfilling career in the green economy and the opportunity to attend climate-resilient, healthy, and sustainable schools.

OUR VALUES

At CAPS, we are committed to achieving immediate climate impacts while simultaneously investing in student leaders who will become the next generation of sustainability professionals. We are optimistic about the future and our values reflect our hands-on approach to solving complex problems. CAPS embodies our work through the following values:

SOLUTIONS ORIENTED

EQUITABLE

INNOVATIVE

OPTIMISTIC

COLLABORATIVE

ADAPTABLE

COMMITMENT TO JUSTICE, EQUITY, AND BELONGING

We work alongside school communities to create a healthy, resilient, and equitable future. CAPS partners with school districts that are disproportionately affected by climate change's human health impacts. Our paid, work-based learning programs increase opportunities for students to address climate change in the local community while providing technical skills that prepare students for college and their future careers in the green economy. CAPS is committed to building a staff and leadership team that reflects the diverse communities across California and operates programs that uplift the lived experiences of environmental justice communities.
